Biography

CLAUDIA BROWN-CURRY

 

A native of Brewton, Alabama, Claudia is married to Will Curry.  In addition to having one daughter and one granddaughter, she and her husband are licensed foster parents.  Mrs. Brown-Curry is a graduate of Southern Normal High School in Brewton, Alabama. Her educational achievements include  B.S. in Sociology, History, and Political Science; M.S. in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University; and Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of West Florida.

 

            Elected in 2006 to a four year term, Claudia served as District 3 representative on the Escambia County School Board.  Not only that, she currently serves as the legislative liaison for the Escambia School Board.  An experienced and devoted professional, Claudia has an extensive career in the field of education.  Specifically, she has served as a school guidance counselor, classroom teacher, school administrator, school social worker, teen parent program coordinator, and GED program instructor.

 

            Claudia also plays an active role in various civic and community organizations.  These include WSRE-TV, Hope Center for Teens, Century Community Development Association, Escambia County Healthy Start Coalition, League of Women Voters, National Council of Negro Women, and the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ.  In addition, she has served on Chief Judge’s Task Force on Juvenile Delinquency.
