I believe that we must make certain that a system is
in place that is effective, efficient, and expedient in re-assuring our
parents that their children are safe.
Reinforce educational achievement for all
children: I believe that our state and school district
should continue to hold children to high academic standards. These standards should convey
clearly and specifically what our children should know and be able to do
by the end of each grade level or other checkpoints. I am committed to leading our
school district in providing all students with the opportunity to achieve
as well as exceed established high academic standards. To do this, the school district
and every school must align policies, curriculum, instruction, materials,
facilities, technologies, professional development, assessments and school
structures. Students who need
extra help should receive timely and intensive interventions. We must do everything we can to
help our students succeed and excel. Also, in meeting the demands of high academic
standards, we must make every effort to give the schools and teachers the
resources they need to educate our children
Strengthen parental and community
involvement: The success of our public schools depends on
the support of many people.
We especially need the support of our parents and community. We must increase our efforts to
operate as teams and partners in leading our school system and the
education of our children toward excellence. I am committed to keeping open
lines of communication as we work together with our parents and community
to improve the education of our children. I am passionate in my belief that
a well-run school system is dependent on the ability and willingness of
school leaders to work together as a team with one aim in mind – that is
to do what is best for the children being served. We must never
lose focus of that aim and we must never exclude our parents and
community.
Improve salaries for ALL
employees: First of all, every Escambia county school
district employee is important. Therefore, when it comes to addressing the
improvement of salaries and benefits, every employee should be considered.
Public school employees’ salaries nationwide have failed to keep up with
inflating – meaning teachers, administrators and support staff are losing
ground in a fight for more pay.
Escambia County is no exception. We must be committed to finding
ways to improve the salaries of all employees and we must keep this high
on the priority list. This might be a slow process, but we
must make every effort to find ways to improve.
Equip ALL schools for a community of learners
in advanced technology: Since advanced technology has a positive impact
on student achievement, we must expand our efforts at equipping ALL
schools for a community of learners in advanced technology. We can no longer afford to equip
some schools with advanced technology and not others. Every child deserves our best, and every child’s school deserves
our best support.
Expand support for quality teachers and
administrators: Expanding support for quality teachers and
administrators can no longer be equated with doing more with less. Teachers and administrators are
already struggling with crushing workloads and limited resources. We must exhaust our efforts at
finding creative ways to give teachers and administrators at ALL schools
the resources they need to help our children
succeed. Overall, I stand for giving every child our
best – our best teachers, our best curriculum, our best resources, our
best everything. You can
count on me to be fair, honest, dedicated and effective. I believe that all children can
learn and that ll employees can make a positive difference in the lives of
our children. Our best must
be given for every child.
